Key Largo Weddings
Key Largo is the first island past the mainland, which makes it the easiest Keys wedding for guests to reach. Miami International is about an hour and a half by car, Fort Lauderdale about two hours, and there is no second bridge to cross once your guests are on the island. For a weekend that wants a real Keys setting without asking every guest to drive the full length of the Overseas Highway, this is the practical choice.
What the island is good at
Key Largo is built around the water rather than around a historic downtown. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park sits on the island and is the reason most people come. That shapes the weekend: the reef, the sandbars and the dive boats are the entertainment, and the ceremony tends to happen at a waterfront property rather than in a town square.
Because the island runs long and narrow along US 1, properties are spread out. Two venues that look close on a map can be fifteen minutes apart, so a shuttle plan matters more here than it does in a walkable town.
What it costs
Published venue starting prices in Key Largo run from about $1,000 to $6,499. Private estate and small property rentals published on the local venue directories start lower, from about $500, and run to about $5,000. At the other end, an all inclusive multi day buyout of a single waterfront property has published packages from about $25,300 to $55,000, which covers the property, the event and the on site lodging together rather than as separate line items.
Catering on the island is commonly quoted as a base package with per person uplifts. Published uplifts run about $25 per person to move from buffet to a fuller service, about $40 to $45 per person for plated, about $15 to $34 per person to add appetizers or a raw bar, and about $38 per person for a rehearsal dinner.
Guest excursions are unusually cheap here compared with the rest of the Keys, because the state park runs its own concession. A public reef snorkel trip is $45.95 to $49.95 per person. A guided snorkel runs about $70 to $120 per person.
Who it suits
Couples with a guest list that skews toward drivers coming from South Florida, and couples who want the reef to be the thing guests remember. It suits a two night weekend better than a three night one, because the island does not have the evening density to fill a third night.
Who it does not suit
Couples who want guests to walk between the hotel, the rehearsal dinner and the after party. That is Key West, not Key Largo.
How we work out these numbers
Figures on this page come from prices that venues, caterers, rental companies and vendors publish themselves, or from the published starting prices on the major wedding marketplaces, read in September 2026. Where a figure is countywide rather than specific to this island, the page says so. Where we have not found a published figure for a category on this island, we leave it out rather than estimate it. A small number of figures are marked as estimates, and those are built from published prices in neighboring markets with the adjustment stated. Prices change, and a published starting price is a starting price rather than a quote, so treat these as a planning range and confirm current pricing with the vendor.
