Florida Keys Bachelor and Bachelorette Weekend: Cost and Logistics
What a Key West party weekend costs per person, how to book rooms for twelve people without one person carrying it, and the mistakes that ruin the first night.

The number the group actually wants
Before anything else, here is what a Keys party weekend costs a person, built from published figures rather than guesses. Three nights, which is our stated planning assumption.
Two sharing at the chain-wide average of $345 a night comes to roughly $520 to $630 each across three nights. Four in a two-bedroom rental cuts that sharply, which is why most party groups end up in one rather than in hotel rooms.
Everything else on the ground. About $140 per person per night per the Monroe County Tourist Development Council visitor study, so about $420 over three nights. For a party weekend, assume the higher end of that. Nobody has ever underspent on a bachelorette.
Getting there. Average domestic itinerary fares in late 2025 were $387 into Key West, $346 into Miami and $269 into Fort Lauderdale, per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
Plus the group things. A sandbar or sunset charter, dinner, whatever the group decides is non negotiable.
Realistically $1,300 to $1,800 per person, which is worth saying out loud in the group chat on day one rather than discovering in week six. Half the friction in planning these weekends is that nobody stated a number.
Key West, and why it is the default
Everything is walking distance. The island is roughly four miles by two and Old Town is smaller than people expect. Duval Street runs 1.25 miles coast to coast, gulf side to Atlantic side, with 43 bars on it. Nobody is booking a designated driver and nobody is arguing about cabs at two in the morning.

Sunset is a scheduled event. The Mallory Square Sunset Celebration runs nightly, every day of the year, beginning two hours before sunset, with street performers, craft stalls and food carts. It is the one thing the whole group will agree to do, and it costs nothing.
It has its own airport. Key West International is served by Allegiant, American, Breeze, Delta, JetBlue and United. The fare is higher and the schedule is thinner than a mainland airport, which matters if someone's flight cancels.

Or the Upper Keys, if the group is not a Duval group
Not every party weekend is a bar weekend.
Islamorada, 76 miles from Miami, is the answer if the weekend is about boats, flats fishing, and a resort with a dock where the group takes over the pool. Key Largo, 58 miles, is the shortest drive in the chain and the diving base, with John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, America's first undersea park, at about 70 nautical square miles.

Both need a car or a shuttle for everything. That is the real trade against Key West.
The logistics that actually go wrong
One person books everything on their card. This is the single most common way a bachelorette weekend damages a friendship. Twelve people, one card, and a group chat where three of them pay late. Booking rooms through a block or a group booking means each person books and pays for their own room against the same rate, and nobody is anybody's creditor.
Arrival day is a five hour spread. Some fly into Key West, some land in Miami and drive three and a half to four hours down one road with no alternate route. A dinner reservation at seven for a group arriving between two and eight is a dinner reservation for half the group. Make the first night loose and the second night the plan.
Nobody books the boat. Sandbar trips, sunset sails and charters for a group of twelve go early in season, and the good ones go earliest. This is the one item that genuinely cannot be sorted on arrival.
Somebody's flight cancels. Key West's schedule is thin. Build one spare half day into the plan and it stops being a crisis.
Where we fit
Modern Era Weddings is entertainment and production, and we run four dedicated party weekend brands alongside the wedding side. One person still organizes it. They just stop being the one holding the card.
