Islamorada Wedding Cost: What a Middle Keys Weekend Actually Runs
Islamorada sits 76 miles from Miami, which changes the guest travel maths. Real 2026 lodging figures, entertainment rates, and what your guests will spend.

Why Islamorada costs differently
Islamorada is not a cheaper Key West. It is a different shape of budget.
The difference starts with a number: Islamorada sits 76 road miles from Miami International Airport, against 159 for Key West. That single fact moves money around your whole weekend.

It means most of your guests will fly into Miami or Fort Lauderdale and drive, rather than paying the premium to connect into Key West. Bureau of Transportation Statistics data for late 2025 put average domestic itinerary fares at $269 into Fort Lauderdale and $346 into Miami, against $387 into Key West. Across fifty traveling guests, routing through the mainland is real money, and it is your guests' money rather than yours.
It also means a rental car or a shuttle becomes close to mandatory, where a Key West wedding can be done on foot.
Lodging
The chain-wide average for the 2025 fiscal year was $345 a night at 72.8 percent occupancy, and Islamorada sits inside that figure rather than beneath it. The village's waterfront resorts with their own docks are precisely the inventory that holds a rate when everything else softens.
April 2026 ran $419.72 across the Keys and June $290.13. That spread is the shape of the season, not the shape of the island.
On our stated three night planning assumption, two guests sharing a room spend roughly $520 to $630 per person on lodging, before anything else.
What your guests spend in total
Lodging, three nights, shared room: roughly $520 to $630 per person. Non lodging spend at about $140 per person per night, per the Monroe County TDC visitor study: roughly $420. Airfare into Fort Lauderdale or Miami: roughly $269 to $346. Ground transport from the mainland, shared between two to four people: variable, and the reason Islamorada guests need a plan rather than a taxi.
That lands most traveling guests between $1,200 and $1,400 per person, which is the same band as anywhere in the Keys. Islamorada does not save your guests money. It shifts the cost from airfare to driving and gives them a shorter journey for it.
For a couple traveling together, call it $2,500 over the weekend.
None of these are quotes. They are published averages and they move with the season.
What you spend
Islamorada venues price the way Keys venues price: a site fee, a food and beverage minimum, and a service charge on top. Waterfront resorts with a private dock or beach sit at the upper end. That part is the venue's to quote, not ours.
What we can quote is our part. From the Modern Era Weddings Florida Keys Pricing and Services Guide 2026:
- Ceremony sound, starting at $450
- Officiant and celebrant service, starting at $450
- Wedding weekend DJ, starting at $2,500
- Live musicians for ceremony or cocktail hour, starting at $650
- Digital Booth, $695; Print Booth, $995
- Event lighting, starting at $1,200
These are starting figures for a Keys weekend, not a national average dressed up as one.
The Islamorada specific thing to get right
Your guests are arriving by car after a drive of roughly two hours from Miami, longer on a Friday. The welcome party is the first thing that happens after that drive, and it is the single easiest thing to get wrong.
Guests who left Miami at four in the afternoon are not walking into a seven o'clock welcome party. Knowing roughly when people land, and when they will actually clear the highway, shapes that first evening more than the playlist does.
Room blocks
Islamorada's particular problem is concentration. One resort often holds the only waterfront inventory that suits a wedding party, so here the booking window matters more than the negotiation does. Miss it and your guests are not paying more, they are spread along twenty miles of highway.
The mechanics of sizing a block and reading its contract are covered properly in our [room block guide](/guides/florida-keys-wedding-room-block).
