Key West Wedding Cost: What It Actually Runs in 2026
Why Key West costs more and delivers more, with real venue, lodging and guest figures for 2026 and 2027.

Why Key West is different
Key West is the only island in the chain where a large guest list does not need a fleet of rental cars.
Old Town covers a little under one square mile and is genuinely walkable. Guests can get from hotel to ceremony to reception to a late bar on foot. On every other island, shuttles are effectively mandatory across every event of the week.
That single fact changes the budget in two directions at once. You spend more on rooms and less on transport, and you spend far less of your own attention on logistics.
The cost of getting there
Key West International has a short runway that limits aircraft size, so fares run meaningfully above Miami. Average domestic itinerary fares are $387 into Key West against $346 into Miami and $269 into Fort Lauderdale, per the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
The cheaper flight is not free. Miami to Key West is 160 miles and three and a half to four hours down a single highway, longer in season. For guests, that is most of a day gone in each direction.
Most couples with a heavily out of state guest list end up recommending Key West International despite the fare, and building in a buffer day either way.
Venue costs
Key West venues span the widest range in the chain, from historic properties to full premium resorts.
Boutique and historic sites run $2,200 to $8,000 in site fee with a food and beverage minimum of $5,000 off peak to $15,000 on a weekend. Premium resorts run $5,000 to $12,000 Saturday site fee with $16,000 to $30,000 Saturday food and beverage minimum.
Venues include Casa Marina, The Reach, Ocean Key, Sunset Key Cottages, the Hemingway Home, Audubon House and Fort Zachary Taylor.
Remember the 22 to 25 percent service charge plus 7.5 percent sales tax, and that Florida taxes the service charge, so the real multiplier is nearer 1.34.
One important constraint: most Key West residential rentals prohibit events outright. If you want an estate or villa wedding, you are looking at Key Largo or Islamorada, not Key West.
Where guests stay, and what it costs them
Key West has the widest ladder of price points in the chain. Guesthouses, inns, boutique hotels and budget rooms exist at nearly every level, where the Middle and Upper Keys are dominated by a smaller number of high end resorts with comparatively little beneath them.
Per room, per night:
| Season | Guesthouse or inn | Resort room | Premium resort |
|---|
| Peak, Dec to Apr | $200 to $300 | $400 to $550 | $650 to $1,100+ |
| Shoulder, May, Jun, Jul, Nov | $150 to $210 | $280 to $390 | $450 to $700 |
| Value, Aug, Sep, Oct | $120 to $180 | $220 to $320 | $350 to $550 |
With fifty or more guests paying their own way, that range matters more than any single negotiated rate. Opening a block at two price points will do more for your attendance than one heavily negotiated rate at a single property.
Across a full year Key West carries the highest average nightly rate in the Keys, because its peak season runs longer than anywhere else in the chain. In the shoulder and value months, Key Largo and Islamorada often run ahead of it.
What it adds up to
For around 100 guests, a Key West wedding typically runs $36,000 to $72,000 for the couple, excluding photography, florals and attire.
Each traveling guest spends roughly $1,230 to $1,400 over three nights, sharing a room, before you account for the higher Key West airfare.
Where the savings actually are
Not the venue. The day, and the month.
A Friday or Sunday in November, with the excursion and welcome party carrying the weekend, can land tens of thousands below a Saturday in March at the same property, with better weather than August and rates well off peak.
